Project Name : Community Health Screening
Project Description :
In order to help the marginalized communities detect medical problems early as well as promote health education, our club has initiated the community health screening projects since 2010. The screenings were carried out in suburban and rural communities, orang asli settlement as well as welfare institution such as old folks’ home. We feel that these vulnerable and underprivileged groups have little or no access to receiving early detection and hence early treatment. Screening provided includes blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol, intraocular pressure or vision test, obesity screening etc. Counseling and health education are provided following the screenings. We also assist in referring the positive cases to respective healthcare centers to start the medical treatment.

1. Objective of the Signature Project
To provide free health screening to marginalized communities.
To help in early detection of medical problems so that treatment can be started without delay.
To promote health education and awareness among the communities.

As they are equipped with a team of nurses and volunteers, many of the screenings can be carried out eg. blood pressure measurement, glucose and cholesterol tests, vision screening, growth parameters monitoring and deworming for children. The health screening in the old folks’ home is carried out by lions members who are the medical doctors with the assistance of the other lions.
