PDG Chan Hoi
District Governor 2012-2013

District Theme

I had a wish to be a District Governor in the Lions movement after many years serving as a Lion member. It’s always seems impossible until it’s done. I planned and i aimed to be a District Governor without knowing how bumpy the journey was when campaigning for it.

My proudest moment after I became a District Governor was to be able to overcome all obstacles that came my way including language bearer. The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become.

I had finally Made It! I served my term as a District Governor of District 308B1 in 2012/2013.

During my tenure as a District Governor, my team and I had ROCKed the district together with all the clubs. My District Theme was “One Team, One Vision” and “To Serve In Unity” was the vision.

Many projects, programs and activities had been introduced and carried out that year. Clubs were actively publishing their projects and achievements on Facebook which was introduced to be used as one of the platforms for publicity.

With the call to promote “Literacy Program” by the then International President (IP), Wayne Madden, all clubs were practically zoomed their focus in to set up libraries, giving out books to poor students, sponsoring computers to schools, providing tuition, etc.

Our district was award a Gold Medal by IP Wayne Madden for excellence performance during the year as we have broken the district membership growth records. We were also being awarded many awards by the Lions Clubs international as well as other private organisations.

Two of the prominent awards are:

1) The Best NGO ICT website awarded by the Asian Oceania Computing Industrial Organisation which comprise of 22 countries members in Asian Oceania region.

2) The Longest line of peace posters awarded by the Malaysian Book of Records. The length was recorded as 1769 meters or 903 feet or equivalent to 1 mile long.

Our district had also collected USD53,000 for Melvin Jones Fellow program which made us ranked 2nd in the multiple district.

As for now, I feel that I had achieved what I had never thought of when others say ” Congratulations on your achievements! You have made us all proud!” I like to serve in the movement. WE SERVE and being able to continue to SERVE will be my greatest achievement from now!
