Lions Eye Clinic:

The Lions Eye Clinic was established to provide continuous and sustained intervention for those with cataract but unable to afford the operation with the support and assistance of Lions, The Ministry of Health, Mahsa University and Universiti Sains Malaysia. The Lions across Malaysia were amazing and raised more than RM1.3 million within a short six months through a string of fund raising activities.

The Lions Eye Clinic (LEC)was officially opened by Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, the Minister of Health on 7th February, 2009 in the presence of now Past International President Lion Sid Scruggs of the United States and other dignitaries. The LEC is still on-going and has till 30th November 2016 seen 5221 patients and conducted 923 operations.

Prosthetic Limbs for Amputees: Patients with Diabetes Mellitus with complications of gangrene of the foot underwent amputation of the limbs thus becoming crippled and dependant on crutches and wheelchairs. The Lions this year focused on providing these victims prosthetic limbs. Totally 20 prosthetic limbs were provided during the fiscal year of 2008-2009.

Lions Down Syndrome Centre: LCIF grant of US75,000.00 was obtained for the setting up of the Lions Down Syndrome Centre in Kota Baru.

The setting up of the Kota Budaya Lions Renal Centre in Kota Baru was facilitated.
