The Lions were amongst the first to offer help to the evacuees that flooded in many areas in Labis, Segamat, Gemas and Muar due to excessive down pour of rain nonstop that started from 28th January, 2011 to 30th January 2011. At the height of flood hitting Segamat, many areas there were submerged with water with some even exceeding 10 feet high and many roads leading to Segamat were cut off and only boats and helicopters could transport the evacuees to the relief centres. Food stuff, blankets and mattresses through the spontaneous support of Lions and friends of Lions were distributed to the evacuees quickly. Even our Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Najib Razak acknowledged the efforts of the Lions for helping the evacuees during his visit to the Seg Wha Relief centre on 1st February 2011.
